Parties at Sam Houston Equestrian Center
We have a 2,500 sq. ft. party room that can be used for any special occasion, such as birthday parties or scout groups. There is no age requirement for riders at a pony party. The party room has large windows overlooking riding arena, a sink, a refrigerator, a microwave and a television. Decorations are allowed, but please no piñatas or confetti. Since painting the room, we no longer use tape on the walls or ceiling. Tables are available for decorations, balloon bouqets, or flowers. Sam Houston Equestrian Center is a no smoking and no alcohol facility. Smoking or alcohol anywhere on the property is prohibited.
Your group will have access to the party facilities for 2 hours. Riders have outdoor activities during the first hour. Half the group rides for 20-25 minutes, while the second half goes on a tour of the barn. Don't forget to bring carrots and cameras. Later, the second group rides while the first group tours. Late arrivals ride in the second group. After riding, the host has the party room for 1 hour to serve refreshments to guests. Please be aware that on Saturday there are two parties. Please leave the party room ready for the next host and hostess. Stable staff will help if needed.
How To Book
In order to book a party, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We need your your name, phone number and the number of riders you expect at your party. After receiving confirmation that your date is available, send your non-refundable $50.00 deposit to hold your date. Dates cannot be held without a deposit. Pony Party Certificates act as a deposit. Be aware that changing a party date adds $25.00 to your total unless you give us at least two weeks notice.
The price for a Pony Party is $350 for 10 riders. Additional riders may be added at $20 each. If you have a gift certificate, please indicate that when you are booking. A certificate acts as your deposit. The "hay ride" is now included in your party. Anyone at your party is welcome to go on the hayride. Please make arrangements concerning the number of guests riding the hayride when you call with your final count of pony riders, a day or two before your party. Gratuities to the barn are appreciated.
What To Wear
Riders should wear long pants, not shorts, and sturdy "outdoor" shoes – no flat-bottomed shoes, no sandals, clogs, slip-ons, canvas, plastic, or cloth shoes. We recommend that non-riders also wear closed toed shoes. All riders must wear a helmet, we have a few helmets available, but please bring a bicycle helmet if you have one. We have a covered arena and parties are not canceled due to rain. Please dress children for the outdoors while they ride.

PLEASE BRING Release Forms
In order to ride at the party, guests must have a release filled out by a parent or guardian before they get on a horse. Parents organizing the party are asked to send a copy of the release to guests along with their invitation. One per family. Then, please collect the releases on the day of the party as guests arrive. As the riders prepare to mount up, give the releases to the stable's staff. Please bring extras for those who forgot. Thank you!
